Maille Weaves
One of the beautiful things about chainmaile is the vast number of weaves available to maile artists. Many can be knitted together (we use a lot of fabric terms) to form large sheets, or you can combine them, switch weaves mid-chain… There’s so many different ways to connect rings together! Each also has special properties that give the pieces better durablity or certain amounts of flex. Some make better chains than others, while some are great for costume. It’s all a matter of experimentation and experience, and new weaves are being invented all the time.
