Bunnies Are Odd Creatures

Okay, something strange happened this morning and I was compelled to draw a little sketchy comic thing to show exactly what happened, because trying to explain it without pictures is nigh impossible.

Little Joe will lick pretty much ANYTHING.

Little Joe will lick pretty much ANYTHING.

That’s our boy!

If you live with a rabbit, what’s the oddest thing you’ve seen them lick? I’m curious, because it’s harder to try and name something that Little Joe hasn’t already licked in this house than something he has. Cheeks pretty much only licks the walls and bookcases.

Collision Update

I spoke with Mom yesterday on the phone. She can use a walker, she’s at home now, and Ronnie is helping out a lot.

She’s got three cracks in her pelvis, a cracked tailbone, and lots of cuts and bruises everywhere, including a nasty hit to her head. She can’t really remember anything about what happened, but that’s not unusual so no one’s really worrying about that. Fortunately she is a nurse, so she knows how to recoup in the easiest way possible. ^_^ I’m really relieved. She was obviously groggy over the phone, but that’s the pain medication so it’s understandable.

I’m still working on getting my blog halfway presentable. WordPress has a ton of cool features I’m discovering as I read the documentation and play around with it. I should have more time to do that later this evening after my dental appointment. I discovered a broken tooth way in the back of my mouth where I have/had(? too hard for me to see so I can’t tell) an old filling from when I was little. Apparently the filling weakened the tooth enough that it broke. I have no real idea when it did; luckily the chunk of tooth broke far away enough from the nerve that I don’t feel anything, not even increased hot/cold sensitivity.

You know the old saying, right? “A tooth for every baby.” Oddly enough recent studies have shown that it might be true.

“Traffic Collision”

I got a scary phone call earlier today. My mom was in a car accident.

Fortunately she’s not dead, but she cracked her pelvis on each side. My youngest brother, Ronnie, was at home at the time hanging out with a friend so he wasn’t involved, which is the good news in all this. His friend’s mom is watching him in case Mom has to stay at the hospital when school starts next week, so things are pretty much all taken care of.

It’s things like this that make you realize physical space. I’m in Pittsburgh, Mom, Ronnie and my grandparents are in Southwestern New York, and my younger brother Chris is in Canada. The geographical distance between us isn’t a big deal, normally. I talk with Mom usually a few times a week, just to chat. I e-mail, IM and call Chris, and I even talk to my grandparents at least once a week. They don’t seem that far away because I can just switch on Skype and see them if they’re on. It’s not uncommon for us to call or leave a voicemail saying, “Hey, get on-line! I’ve got to show you something.”

But right now I feel very far away, and it’s not fun.

On an up side, I finally got a blog (WordPress) working with the site. Yay. I’ve disabled a lot of the functionality until I can get the actual blog page looking nice, but I wanted to at least have this News section up and running. When you can comment you’ll know the blog is done.
