After reading through some Etsy articles about their shop makeover challenges, I decided to take the plunge and give it a try!

I already updated my shop policies and whatnot when I re-did the site last month, so now I’m moving on to the photos. Photos have always been a sticking point for me because I struggle with how I want to balance “professional” with “personal”. I’ve figured out now that the plain white backgrounds I’ve had in the past are not only near-impossible to photograph well with my current lighting set-up, but look too… Sterile for my tastes. I like to play with color in my maille and I like to think of myself as a fun, geeky, eccentric-type person. I want to reflect that in my pictures, so I’m starting by getting rid of that boring white background. I’m starting off small right now, but keep checking back to see what I do with the place.
