Little Maille Invention – What to do with it? Suggestions?

I was looking at stained glass windows and other architectural prettiness and was inspired to make these little things. They’re modelled after quatrefoil cathedral windows.

As you can see in the last picture, they’re pretty stiff. It’s like how I make my stars; I don’t like them being floppy, I want them to be solid! :) Fellow maillers will recognize this as a variation of Celtic Visions. If I’ve discovered a new weave/knot/unit(?) I’d like to call it “Quatrefoil”. Any other maillers out there seen it before?

But now my big question is “What do I do with it?” Earrings are an obvious and very pretty choice; in fact that’s just what I’m going to do with these. Maybe I can work out a way to capture some Swarovskis in the center. But I’m thinking they might be too bulky to simply link together for a bracelet or something. At the most they might make nice little connector links or interludes to break up plain maille chains. So not useless, but probably limited in terms of “jewellry” uses, like Tao 3 knots. I’ve been playing with the idea of seeing if this can be sheeted. It’s got sculptural potential written all over it, too.

So – Any ideas?
